Hi I’m Cassie and I run Beyond The Square ! 🙂
I have been around on and off selling and sharing the odd piece of crochet since Dec 2014. I have had my Etsy shop set up since Feb 2016, and have now finally got round to setting up my blog properly!
I work in IT for a day job and it can get very stressful and boring so to unwind and relax I have always crocheted, knitted, cooked and been generally crafty. One day when I was on maternity leave expecting my son my husband suggested why not try to sell some of the bits I make to add a bit of income whilst I was off. So I did!
That seemed to go down a storm and I started taking made to order requests and expanding my repertoire. I now supply stitch markers to 5 independent wool shops around the UK and have a fledgling handmade Jewellery shop and You Tube Channel. (More love is needed here but i will get round to it eventually, go Subscribe!)
My ethos is handmade is better! My house is full of things I make, I try not to buy mass-produced products if I can help it, I try to source my wool and yarn from the UK makers/stockists where possible and if not I use the best I can find. I am more than happy to take custom orders for things not in my shop.
This handmade way of life has become even more important to me now my son is here, we have discovered that he suffers from complex food allergies, and quite sever eczema, so my love of cooking has come in really useful make sure he still has a full and varied diet! I will be sharing my recipes and ones I have discovered that I love and I hope you will do to! If you would like to follow my sons progress or get more information about allergies, please have a read of my page dedicated to him, I will update it periodically with progress, and I hope to connect with and help other parents along the way
