Summer Tote Bag Pattern

For ages I have been trying to come up with a pattern for a market style tote bag pattern that is quick to work up, is a decent size but is still economical on its use of yarn. This is so I could create loads of bags easily and cheaply in different colours to suit my outfit or mood!

I chose to use stylecraft special DK. Its soft, light, durable, comes in what seems and endless variety of colours, and with only needing to use 1 100G skein of each colour it is very cheap!

I bought mine from Wool Warehouse in Aster and Cloud Blue. At only £1.85 a skein plus £2.95 postage it works out at only £6.62 per tote. If that isn’t a bargain i’m not sure what is!

This tote is a great step up from beginner to intermediate crochet. Great size for a handy shopping bag.

  1. I think I’m doing something wrong and I can’t figure it out… I keep getting a stitch count of 72 in row 5? I love this bag! Is there only supposed to be 3 DC’s along the sides?

    1. Hi there should be 4 stitches along the sides one in each row end. Hope that helps!
