Points To Remember

All Squares are worked in american terms.

The Squares are actually slightly more rectangular than square, but saying the rectangles doesn’t quite sound right!

There are video tutorials linked within the pattern for the stitches specifically called on for each square.

The turning Chain/Standing DC always counts as the first stitch in the row, Click here for the tutorial on how to do a standing DC.

The Patterns

Scorpio

Scorpio-born are passionate and assertive people. They are determined and decisive, and will research until they find out the truth. Scorpio is a great leader, always aware of the situation and also features prominently in resourcefulness. Colours associated to Scorpio are Red, Scarlet and Rust.

Scorpio is a Water sign and lives to experience and express emotions. Although emotions are very important for Scorpio, they manifest them differently than other water signs. In any case, you can be sure that the Scorpio will keep your secrets, whatever they may be.

Scorpios are known by their calm and cool behavior, and by their mysterious appearance. People often say that Scorpio-born are fierce, probably because they understand very well the rules of the universe. Some Scorpio-born can look older than they actually are. They are excellent leaders because they are very dedicated to what they do. Scorpios hate dishonesty and they can be very jealous and suspicious, so they need to learn how to adapt more easily to different human behaviors. Scorpios are brave and therefore they have a lot of friends.

Ares

Greek God of War. Ares is the god of war, one of the Twelve Olympian gods and the son of Zeus and Hera. In literature Ares represents the violent and physical untamed aspect of war, which is in contrast to Athena who represents military strategy and generalship as the goddess of intelligence. Ares is linked to Scorpio buy its colours, Fire red and scarlet. Ares is often represented by a spear which is the shape I have chosen below.

This Square is an introduction to Overlay crochet. If you are new to this technique or a veteran, this is the best tutorial out there by one of the best overlay crochet designers out there and not something I could top! Tutorial

All brown stitches in this apart from the bottom 2 rows are Front Post Treble crochet stitches and should be joined to the post of the same stitch 2 rows below. For example the first brown stitch on row 6 should be joined to the front post of the same stitch on row 4. This creates a raised textured appearance to you work.

All other stitches in this square are DC unless stated

South Node

The SN in Scorpio is primed for disaster even if the passage of years diminishes the occurrences of these catastrophes. There is an excessive attachment to pain and crisis and a heightened emergency preparedness that now merely drain her energy. The fires of hell have been Home Sweet Home and agony-ecstasy the customary state of being. They are so habituated to growth through suffering, that when peace arrives, they stay tense and frightened, anticipating the return of pain, and fearing stagnation and boredom. There are the same characteristics of Ares the God of war
